Stambler Upped to VP at THINKFilm

Ben Stambler has been promoted to the position of Vice President of Acquisitions and Development at THINKFILM, it was announced by Mark Urman, Head of US Theatrical. Stambler will continue to work out of the company's headquarters in New York where he started last March as Director of Acquisitions.
Of the promotion Urman says, "Ben has been a tremendous asset to the company and what better way to prepare for our planned change and growth than to let him change and grow with us?"
While at THINK Stambler was key to the acquisitions of "Taxi to The Dark Side," "Then She Found Me," "My Brother is an Only Child," and the forthcoming production "Blue Valentine." "Taxi to The Dark Side," which opens January 18th, is one of four THINKFilm projects on the Academy Award shortlist for Best Documentary and, among its many accolades, it just received nominations from the DGA and WGA for its filmmaker Alex Gibney.
Previous to joining THINK Stambler served as Manager of Acquisitions at Magnolia Pictures where he played a key role in the acquisitions of dozens of titles including "The Signal," "The Host," and the Oscar Nominated "Jesus Camp."
Recently, Stambler was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for his work producing Aaron Katz's second feature "Quiet City" which had its world premiere at SXSW in 2007 and will premiere on pay cable and DVD in early 2008. After attending North Carolina School of the Arts and earning his B.A. from Emerson College, he assisted in Acquisitions and Development at Samuel Goldwyn Films in Los Angeles and worked in documentary production at Two Tone Productions in New York.
